I remember going through a model home in Shea Home’s Trilogy in Queen Creek and being shocked at the estimated utility costs. They can make a super energy efficient, or green home, these days.

Some places, such as Scottsdale, have established guidelines and are noticing a difference. In 2006, one-third of the single-family construction permits, or 370 permits, were for green construction

We bought a super efficient (and expensive) Trane air conditioner last year. Our electric bill did go down but not by much. Our home is much more comfortable, however.

I just listed an honest to gawd adobe home in North Scottsdale. They don’t make adobe homes much anymore because of the high cost of construction. Adobe homes certainly are beautiful as well as energy efficient.
