In 2004, a group led by William S. Levine, a major owner in the north Valley’s Desert Ridge snapped up the southernmost 1,700 acres. Then last week, the pending sale of the remaining 3,200 acres was announced, to an unidentified buyer widely believed to be the company behind Scottsdale’s acclaimed DC Ranch, Mesa’s Superstition Springs and the proposed One Scottsdale mixed-use development.
