When did buying a home become a “get rich quick” scheme?

It wasn’t many decades ago that the philosophy behind buying a home was to create a warm and stable place to live and raise a family.

When did buying a home become a “get rich quick” scheme? How did that mindset become so common in Arizona? That mindset was a driving force behind the real estate boom and bust and all the pain it has caused Arizona families.

Maybe Arizona needs a public education program to promote responsible personal money management.

Oh wait… the largest public education program funded by the State of Arizona is actually all about promoting a certain philosophy towards personal money management.

I guess after growing up with that message being blasted into their homes and cars for nearly 30 years now, it may have helped shape the personal money management philosophy of many Arizonans.
