Unlike lenders, I’ve found Arizona escrow officers to be uniformly good. I’ve only run into one escrow officer who was clearly incompetent.
One escrow officer stole almost $500,000 and got her unemployed daughter a home loan. Another embezzled $61,000 from funds that were supposed to go to homeowners’ mortgage payments.
These actions are clearly crimes. There’s no gray area here.
Unlike with lenders, I don’t think more regulation of escrow officers is a good idea. More enforcement of current laws and regulations should be effective. Escrow officers are a tiny problem compared to lenders.
